Area Airport Information

Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) – Albuquerque’s Sunport is the most common gateway for visitors to Taos as it provides the most flight options for travelers. Airlines serving the Sunport include America West, American, Continental, Delta, Frontier, Great Lakes, Mesa Air, Northwest Reno Air, Southwest, TWA, United, and US Air. The Sunport has full complement of rental car agencies located in a convenient  Sunport Car Rental Center. Average drive time between the Albuquerque airport and Taos Ski Valley is roughly 2.75 to 3 hours.

Santa Fe Municipal Airport (SAF) – Santa Fe airport offers more limited flight options but with a reduced drive time to Taos.  Avis and Hertz are the only rental car agencies with offices at the airport. American Eagle Airlines and United Airlines are currently the only commercial carriers serving the Santa Fe Airport with daily flights out of Santa Fe to and  from Dallas, Phoenix, and Denver.

Taos Municipal Airport (SKX, TSM) – The Taos Municipal Airport is a relatively small airport with primarily private aviation services and limited seasonal charter air services (via JSX and Contour Airlines). Flights on Contour Airlines to and from Denver Airport (DIA) can be combined with commercial flights on American, United, and Alaska Airlines for seamless travels directly to Taos.

For private aviation to/from Taos Municipal Airport (SKX and TSM): There are two runways with the largest being 8,600 feet by 100 feet wide at 7,095-foot elevation.  Updated FBO services and additional navigation information can be found at here . GPS and VOR approaches available. FBO services provided by Taos Aviation Services.

Direct Commercial Flights to Taos via JSX and Contour Airlines

JSX offers a “private flight experience” from private terminals, which makes the airport experience faster, easier, and simpler.  Winter season routes offer service to and from Austin, Texas (Executive); Dallas, Texas (Love Field); Denver, Colorado (DIA); Las Vegas, Nevada; Burbank, California and Carlsbad, California.  For updates, reservations, and more information, go to JSX for Texas and California flights and Contour Airlines for the Denver flights.  All flights to and from Taos on JSX and Contour include shuttle service from between Taos Airport and Taos Ski Valley on the days of arrival and departure with a stop in front of the Edelweiss Lodge and Spa.

Note that the Contour Airlines flights via Denver do have code share agreements with American, United, and Alaska and can be combined with connecting flights seamlessly through those partner airlines and online travels agents such as Expedia and Orbitz.
